Deck Parka w/ Fur Lining
(100% Cotton Waterproof Poplin Fabric, Monitaly's exclusive fabric produced at Vancloth & Sons, Los Angeles, California )
Crafted in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A.
Inspired by the British Royal Navy deck crew parka, Deck Parka with Fur Lining by Monitaly is a versatile outerwear piece, functioning well through fall and winter.
The jacket incorporates Kimono (a.k.a.Dorman) sleeve construction for ease of movement and to avoid the need for seams on the outer sleeve. The advantage of Kimono sleeve is also to prevent water from getting in since there is no seam on shoulder. Diamond-shaped gussets under the arms offer better mobility. The hood is constructed from a remarkable 6 pattern pieces, giving it a three dimensional fit. The jacket has two outer pockets for security and storage in addition to a zipper front closure with wind flap and melamine button closure.
The body is cut roomy, and a leather drawcord is on the waist to synch the extra bulk of the body fabric. The Deck Parka is fully lined with synthetic fur and the jackets’ cuffs belt with button closure for cuff tightening. The melamine buttons used on the jacket are common in military and heavy-duty workwear garments and are so strong that they are said to be able to stop a bullet.
Monitaly’s original “Vancloth” fabric is an all-cotton water-proof poplin. It’s woven very tightly so that when water is introduced to the surface of the fabric, the outer-most layer of fine yarn swells to lock out moisture and prevent the garment from becoming soaked. The fabric is also wind-resistant and features a smooth texture with a slight luster.
